Calendar quarter or fiscal quarter?
The dates above follow the calendar year. That is what the media, statistics offices and most companies mean when they say Q1 to Q4.
Some companies count differently because their fiscal year does not start in January. Siemens starts its year on October 1, Microsoft on July 1. October to December is therefore Q1 for Siemens and Q2 for Microsoft. When you compare quarterly results, look at the period, not just the label.
